Flip Furniture and WIN BIG! 

Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region and Chemong Home Hardware Building Centre are excited to announce “The Big Flip” furniture flipping contest in honour of Earth Day on April 22, 2024. This Kawartha-wide event aims to promote sustainability by reimagining and reviving used furniture and to keep it out of the landfills. 

The contest concept is simple: find a used piece of furniture (a great place to start is the Habitat for Humanity ReStores) take a before photo with it, document your process of “flipping” with one picture (flipping can involve, but is not limited to, painting, restoring, reupholstering), and take a picture of you and your finished piece together. Submissions can be entered at www.thebigflip.ca between April 1 and April 30, 2024.  

There are two categories that will each have a winner: Designer’s Choice will be chosen by a team of esteemed experts. Owner of Birchview Design, Sonja Sanderson, and her team of interior designers will score entries by the following criteria: 40% creativity and originality, 30% usability, 30% transformation. The People’s Choice category will be chosen by online votes between May 1 – May 8, 2024 at www.thebigflip.ca.  

Each prize consists of a Fusion Mineral Paint™ prize pack, a one-year membership to the Peterborough Tool Library, and a $500 gift card to Chemong Home Hardware Building Centre, a great place for people who like to DIY! 

In 2023, Habitat for Humanity Peterborough and Kawartha Region diverted 331,730 items from landfills thanks to purchases and donations to the Peterborough North, Peterborough South, and Lindsay ReStores.
