Trent Valley Archives: Little Lake Cemetery Pageant - This event has already occurred
Sunday, September 25, 2022 1:00 p.m.
For the first time since 2019, Trent Valley Archives (TVA) will be presenting its awesome Little Lake Cemetery Pageant on Sat. and Sun. Sept 24th and 25th, 2022 as a live and in-person event! You won’t want to miss a chance to meet some of Peterborough’s historical figures who now reside at the picturesque local burial ground.
This year, a few favourite characters will be returning after many years. Others are new to the tour or will be telling their stories in a new way. Some, such as Charlotte Nicholls and Captain Charles Rubidge, are locally famous and have names that turn up on Peterborough buildings and streets, while others, including puppeteer John Conway, have stories that are yet to be shared and remembered.
Tours on Sept 24th will begin running at 6pm and on Sept. 25th at 1pm. Following the first tour, the rest will run at 20-minute intervals. Guides will lead groups of about 15 people through the cemetery, stopping at various grave sites where a few of Peterborough’s finest local actors and history educators will share stories from the lives of people who left their mark on our community.
Although the chapel will be off-limits this year thanks to the derecho this past May, there will be time and space for refreshments, questions and socializing on the lawn, where we will also have some of our local history books available for purchase (cash and e-transfer only for books purchased at this event).
