The Study:
The County of Peterborough (County) are undertaking a Transportation Master Plan (TMP) Study for the Lakefield area road network. This study will assess transportation infrastructure needs and deficiencies and identify the infrastructure improvements required to accommodate growth in the community of Lakefield. As part of this study, the County will also explore the potential location and conceptual design of a second crossing of the Otonabee River, as recommended in the 2022 TMP Update. Please refer to approximate study area limits shown on the key plan.
The Process:
This study is being undertaken in accordance with Approach #1 of the Master Planning Process, as outlined in Section A.2.7 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) document (2024). As such, the TMP for the Lakefield area will generally address Phases 1 and 2 of the MCEA process.
Consultation:
As part of this study, a comprehensive consultation process is being undertaken to gather comments from the public, community stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and agencies. To share study details and progress with the public, two Public Information Centres (PICs) are being planned as part of this study. The first PIC will be held in-person to introduce the study, to gather feedback on the study background, existing study area conditions, alternative solutions, including preliminary potential locations for a second crossing of the Otonabee River, and to present the next steps in the study process. Members of the study team will be present to discuss the study with you and answer any questions you may have.
